Collaboration between Northern India
Textile Research Association (NITRA) and NPCC for the Textile Industry
On 30th
January 2013, the Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA), a prime Indian
textile research institute established since 1974, signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC)
to promote mutual cooperation and collaboration in the area of productivity and
quality improvement for operators in the textile and garment sector.
Through the
Memorandum of Understanding both parties have agreed on a framework for
cooperation and the implementation of a sustainable strategy for a variety of
capacity building and development activities of common interest. The key areas
of cooperation will focus on:
· strengthening human
and institutional capacity of the parties in enhancing the service delivery to
their respective stakeholders with respect to promotion, facilitation and
delivery of consultancy
services in productivity and quality;
· technical
assistance towards enhancing production capability and the export readiness of
stakeholders with emphasis on improving supply development and competitiveness,
standards and
conformity compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of management
systems and seamless logistics
and distribution;
· promoting
innovation and technology transfer for the textile industry with emphasis on
new
techniques for increasing productivity and product development;
· collaboration for
promotion of green productivity in enterprises.
